7/31/2017 0 Comments Day Two- Part two of two :(Today was a busy, busy day in London! This morning anyone who wanted to could get up and go to the Tate modern art gallery next door to us! It was well…modern art. Some of it I didn’t really understand and other pieces were really powerful! Overall a great experience. Plus, the top of the building had an amazing view of London! Then we were met at the hotel by an actor who acts at the Globe theatre. He took us on a tour of the theatre, and then we did a workshop in the rehearsal space for the globe! It was really fun and cool! We did it with another school from Texas so it was super cool to meet them! Then we grabbed lunch and were surprised by our friend Ellen who just moved out here! With her we rode the tube to the Victoria and Albert museum which was really cool as well! Then we said goodbye to Ellen grabbed, grabbed dinner, and hopped into cabs to the West End. There we saw the amazing and fun show: Kinky Boots. Long day! Tomorrow we head to Scotland!!! Be sure to check out the photos below!! And there are more to come under the photos tab!

7/30/2017 2 Comments Day one- PArt one of two in LondonLast night at 5:00pm our Aer Lingus flight left for Dublin! We had two very nice and witty Irish flight attendants who made the turbulent and sleepless flight pretty bearable. Then we landed for a short layover in Dublin. At this point it was 4:00 am local time and a small tea and coffee shop was there to provide just what we needed! After a short, yet fun flight to Heathrow airport: we were finally in London! We meet a bus tour guide at the airport and they drove us into central London. Then we did a walking tour of London due to a cycling race (which we got to watch some of.) By the end of the tour we were all exhausted and ready to go to the hotel! We had dinner at the hotel and now, a very jet lagged, but happy bunch of theatre kids are ready to go to bed! Please enjoy photos of me at the end of the night and of us on the bus!
--Marlaina H. 7/28/2017 0 Comments The night beforeAHHH!! Tomorrow at this time I will already be on my way to London!! I can't wait! Packing is almost complete (kinda)! In other news, last weekend we meet up with the Robinson travelers! I can't wait to see them again! It's so funny that two high schools in the same county are able to go! It's nice though because it means we will be traveling on the same flight! I will try and put up a picture of us from last weekend under the photos tab.
Speaking of fellow travelers: I just saw a comment from another AHSTF school asking what our dates were: August 5th @ 11:30 am August 6th @ 8:00 pm August 8th @ 5:30 pm August 9th @ 1:30 pm All at venue 45 I hope we get to see your show and you can come to ours! I think that would be so fun! I just can't wait to meet all the other high schoolers who care about theatre as much as I do! Anyway, I hope you enjoy these lovely photos of our packing attempts. --Marlaina H. 7/27/2017 1 Comment The send off performanceSo, I didn’t get to blogging like I wanted to yesterday, but better late than never! Yesterday was the sendoff performance, the last time we are going to see each other before we leave! It was really fun! I am finally getting used to the challenging 3-sided thrust configuration. This show is very dependent on the audience, so it was different to actually have an audience full of people that didn’t know the show. It only took us a few plays to get a feel for our crowed so I am not at all worried about that anymore. Everything is so real! We have our luggage tags and a meeting time and packing that I can no longer procrastinate on and I am full of excitement! I am really so honored to be a part of this and I just can’t wait to go! WHY ISN’T IT SATURDAY ALREADY!!! :( I will be posting daily (hopefully) starting Sunday so make sure you keep checking out this page. I also will be adding lots of photos from our trip! So, stay tuned!! Alright, back to packing for me!!
--Marlaina H. It was the last day of school today; summer break has officially started! Recently in a meeting, Mrs. Hobson asked if someone would be willing to create a blog during/about the trip, and as someone who keeps a daily journal I volunteered! I won't be posting that much before the trip, but I thought I would set the scene of what is to come! W. T. Woodson High School has been invited to perform through the American High School Theatre Festival (AHSTF) at the Fringe festive in Edinburgh, Scotland this summer! (I have never seen so many prepositions in a sentence!!! :D ) We will be performing the show: Too Much Light Makes Baby Go Blind: Thirty Plays in 60 Minutes or Less. It's a really cool neo-futurism piece that I am so excited to be working on! I have really learned a lot through the show; it's a type of theatre that I haven't done or really heard of much before working on this piece. Personally, I am so excited and cannot wait to go. This will be my first time in Europe! I found out this trip was happening in May of last year, and since then I have been anxiously waiting to perform. We have put in so much hard work through fundraising, planning, and rehearsals (with many more still to follow!!!); I can't wait for all this work to pay off!!!
